RIO BRANCO CITY
Rio Branco is the capital of the state of Acre, in the northern region of the country; it has approximately 500,000 inhabitants.

• Option A: Stay one or two nights in Rio Branco.
- Rest and prepare for the long trip to Céu do Mapiá village.
- Go to bank and pharmacy. There are no banks or pharmacies in Mapiá.
- Make necessary purchases and supermarket (which is not perishable) to take to Mapiá. You will find more options.
- Visit Mestre Irineu's tomb and the Colônia 5.000, among other attractions.
• Option B: Go straight to Boca do Acre.
- Arrive faster at Mapiá, but it is tiring, because the trip is long, and involves land and river transport.

BOCA DO ACRE CITY
Boca do Acre is in the state of Amazonas, and it's a small city
with approximately 35.000 inhabitants.
It is about 220 km from Rio Branco. The trip takes approximately 3-4 hours by car
on a partially paved road.
• Option 1: Overnight in Boca do Acre
- Rest and prepare for the boat trip.
- Make necessary purchases and supermarket to take to Mapiá.
- Go to the bank and pharmacy. There is no banks or pharmacies at Mapiá.


• Option 2: Rest for a few hours at the hotel in Boca do Acre, then go to Céu do Mapiá village.
- Arriving faster at Mapiá, the boat trip is long and can last from 6 to 9 hours, depending on the season.
* The Visitor Reception Center is located in Boca do Acre at 1985, Getúlio Vargas Avenue. There, hired canoeists come to arrange the departure time and check the need for luggage carriers to bring your bags to the harbor.
* It may be good to note that few people in Rio Branco and Boca do Acre speak English; travelers should be prepared to speak Portuguese or travel with Portuguese-speaking friends
IMPORTANT TO TAKE INSIDE YOUR HAND BAG DURING THE BOAT TRIP:
• Raincoat, cap, light coat
• Repellent and sunscreen
• Snack and water
•Tissue
** Put the bags in plastic bags to protect them from rain.
** Be aware of tree branches and boat movement during boat trip

IMPORTANT TO TAKE TO MAPIÁ:
• Clothes for warm weather and some for cool weather, as there is a possibility (even remote) that the temperature drops, especially at night.
• Long-sleeved cotton T-shirts that protect from mosquito bites and the sun.
• If you want to bathe in the river, it is good to bring shorts and a top (in the case of women) because women don't usually wear bikini in the village.
• Waterproof sneakers are best for hiking in the forest. Wellies (from November to May) and flip flops are also helpful, and it is unnecessary to carry heavy boots.
• Flashlight, raincoat or umbrella, hat or cap, and sunscreen.
• Repellent.
• In case of dietary restriction, remember to bring the appropriate foods to your diet.
• If you regularly use any medication, are allergic or need prescription drugs, it is important to take as much as you need during your stay, remembering that there is no pharmacy in Céu do Mapiá.
• Basic medicines for headache, flu and simple symptoms you may find necessary.
BE A CONSCIOUS VISITOR
You are in an ecovillage, located within a federally protected Conservation Unit in a National Forest. Be responsible, adopt ecological and low impact practices, and contribute to environmental preservation and local sustainability.
