In 1983, Padrinho Sebastião and his people were settled by the federal government in the Mapiá river and hosted by the residents of the São Sebastião Ranch. A few years later, Padrinho Sebastião and his people bought the ranch area.

Francisco Corrente da Silva (Chico Corrente) remained the manager of the ranch until his death in 2012.
He was very concern about teaching the practice of agricultural and forestry to young people.
In the daily life of the community, even today, residents are encouraged to cultivate the land in fields and agroforestry systems.
There are approximately 20 families in the area now living of extractivism and subsistence agriculture.

CHICO CORRENTE MEMORIAL
The “Chico Corrente Memorial”, inaugurated in June 2012, was organized right after Francisco Corrente da Silva death; in order to preserve some objects, documents and photos of both Tio Chiquinho and his companion Dona Iolanda.
The Memorial cultivates the presence of the couple within the community, and in a simple way, shows the visitor a little of their lives.
